Abstract:
|
Sonoma State University, a 7000-student institution in the California wine country, has awarded 328 bachelor’s degrees in physics. The Department of Physics and Astronomy has kept in touch with the great majority of its graduates and currently lists the achievements of more than 40% at http://phys-astro.sonoma.edu/. We believe that when prospective students ask the title question the best answer is to show what others have done. Our graduates work in many fields, with the largest numbers in computers (16%), physics (12%), electronics & semiconductors (11%), optics (9%), business (9%), astronomy (6%), and education & counseling (6%). They hold a variety of positions, with the largest numbers engineers (24%), programmer/analysts (13%), scientists (10%), teachers (10%), managers (9%), students (9%), entrepreneurs (6%), and technicians (6%). Telecommunications is coming up fast with the rapid growth of this industry in the local area.
