Abstract:
|
In the winter of 1998, College of the Desert offered a section of conceptual physics online in parallel with its traditional lecture-based course. Common sets of exams were given to both classes. The outcomes of the two courses will be compared with a focus on student success and retention. This talk will include a measurement of comparative retention and success rates for online and lecture courses. It will conclude with a discussion of new strategies to improve success and retention in online courses.
