Information About CEU Credits
Continuing Education Units (CEU) are available for many workshops offered at American Association of Physics Teachers (AAPT) National Meetings and at AAPT/PTRA workshops. A record of workshop attendance will be maintained for a minimum of seven years and a transcript of CEU taken through AAPT can be obtained at any time by contacting AAPT Member and Subscriber Services, One Physics Ellipse, College Park, MD 20740-3845; by phone at 301-209-3333; or via e-mail: membership@aapt.org.

The general rule is that 1.0 CEU can be awarded for each 10 contact hours of workshop or educational experience. Thus, workshops that are 6 hours long can offer 0.6 CEU of credit. AAPT currently charges non-members $30.00 and AAPT members $25.00 for each CEU. Therefore, the cost of receiving 0.6 CEU for a six-hour workshop is $18.00 for non-members and $15.00 AAPT members.
 
Need to obtain credit for a workshop you attended?
To obtain CEU credit for a workshop you have already attended, you must contact the Member Services Department of AAPT at membership@aapt.org or 301-209-3333. You must have attended the workshop within six months prior to the date of your request, and your request must include the following:
  1. An AAPT Continuing Education application form.
  2. A completed workshop evaluation form, available from the workshop leader.
  3. Payment (by credit card or check made payable to the American Association of Physics Teachers). To determine amount of payment required, contact the workshop leader or membership@aapt.org.
 

Want to offer credits for a workshop you are leading?
Any workshop leader can request AAPT CEU credit for their workshop. At least one month prior to the workshop, the leader should fill out the online CEU request form, including the name of the workshop, the workshop location and date, and the number of CEU credits desired for the workshop. Prior to the workshop, AAPT Member and Subscriber Services will send the workshop leader registration and evaluation forms that can be used to register workshop participants for CEU. After completion of the workshop, the workshop leader will send the completed application forms, evaluation forms, and payment in the form of checks or credit card payment back to AAPT. Participants registering for CEU will receive a certificate of participation and a transcript of AAPT CEU taken to date.
