Monday, August 1 from 7:00 to 8:00 a.m.Are you new to an AAPT National Meeting? If so, this is the best time to learn about AAPT and the Summer Meeting, as well as meet fellow attendees. AAPT leadership will be represented to discuss ways to get more involved with AAPT.

AAPT Fun Run/Walk

Tuesday, August 2 from 6:30 to 7:30 a.m.The 3rd Annual AAPT Fun Run/Walk will travel through beautiful downtown Omaha to the new Bob Kerrey bridge that s-curves its way across the Missouri River to Iowa. This bridge, a fiber optic wave sculpture designed by Japanese artist Makoto Sei Watanabe with a dancing water display with 26 water jets shooting into the air create a fun-family friendly atmosphere. Water and an after race breakfast will be provided. The $20 donation will benefit AAPT's programs.

Omaha Energy Tour

Saturday, July 30 from 3:00 to 6:00 p.m.Get ready to be enlightened with innovative educational programs in alternative energy and sustainability currently developed in the Omaha area at Creighton University, Metropolitan Community College and the University of Nebraska. The tour will feature new clean energy facilities that are being implemented as educational tools and the programs of study in energy technology that make use of them.

Omaha's Henry Doorly Zoo

Wednesday, August 3 from 1:00 to 5:00 p.m.Omaha's Henry Doorly Zoo is nationally renowned for its leadership in animal conservation and research. It includes one of the world's largest indoor rainforests (Lied Jungle), the world's largest indoor desert (Desert Dome), the world's largest nocturnal exhibit and indoor swamp (Kingdom's of the Night) and the largest Cat Complex in North America. The visit will include a behind the scenes tour of the Scott Aquarium, featuring a tour of the innovative life-support systems and salt water production station.
