ComPADRE

comPADRE (Communities for Physics and Astronomy Digital Resources in Education) is a network of well-organized, digital collections of high-quality educational materials in physics and astronomy. These collections connect to a wide range of digital resources, including curricular materials, digital libraries, and online journals. Additional collections will be added over time.

Collections
The initial collections include the following.

PER-Central - A collection of physics education research (PER) information designed to serve as an online resource for PER producers and consumers. Here you will find links to articles and dissertations, research groups, PER-based curricular materials, news and events, and many other things of interest.

PTEC - The Physics Teacher Education Coalition (PTEC) is an association of physics departments dedicated to the improvement of K-12 physics and physical science teacher preparation. PTEC is an inclusive organization that recognizes the value of diverse approaches to the reform of teacher preparation and provides a forum for dissemination of innovative approaches and best practices in this field.

Physical Sciences Resource Center – the foundation for comPADRE, this site provides links to and reviews of web resources for the physics and astronomy education community

The Quantum Exchange – those teaching quantum physics can use this site for information on pedagogy, student activities, tutorials, and applications

The Nucleus – designed with the Society of Physics Students for physics and astronomy undergraduates, this site fosters collaboration, and lists undergraduate research opportunities, course resources, and materials for undergraduate teaching assistants

The Physics Front – high school teachers of physics, especially new and crossover teachers can use this site to find activities and lesson plans for immediate classroom use, demonstrations, laboratories, multimedia, syllabi, and other resources

The Astronomy Center – introductory astronomy course instructors can use this site to locate instructional resources and materials including images, applets, research and pedagogical articles, labs and student activities

Physics To Go – a non-physicist can use this site to locate general resources in physics, astronomy, and the physical sciences, such as online science museum exhibits, public demonstrations, and general interest articles

Editors for each collection will help select and organize material for ease of discovery and use, solicit reviews of the material, and evaluate the feedback from user groups so that resources are continuously refined and updated.

How to Participate

ComPADRE offers three main ways to participate. Users can contribute content, review content, or propose and help develop new collections.

Many online sites offer users the ability to search to find resources. ComPADRE offers more. If a resource you find invaluable is not listed, you can submit it for consideration. If you have developed a new way to use a resource and want to help others better use the resource, you can submit your method. If there is a resource listed that you had problems with, you can submit comments for the community.
