AAPT Celebrates 75 Years of Excellence
In 2006, AAPT is celebrating its 75th Anniversary. Here, you will find information and links to the various activities and products commemorating this anniversary. Visit this page frequently, as new items are likely to appear.
 
Time Capsule
A special ceremony was held at the the AAPT Summer Meeting in July where memorabilia for the time capsule were displayed. Members made many suggestions for additional items and we have issued a "last call" for suggestions (dimensions of capsule: 12-inch diameter by 36-inch height). Click here to make a suggestion (The deadline is Oct. 1). The capsule will be sealed during the Executive Board meeting in late October. After sealing, the capsule will be displayed in the lobby of the Executive Office in College Park, MD.
 
75th Anniversary Booklet
AAPT is producing a booklet containing interviews with 75 physicists who have been instrumental in physics research and/or education (as voted on by the membership). Look for this publication in fall 2006.

Call for Photos
The Announcer will feature a special print and online section dedicated to remembering the past. Please send your old photos and memories to AAPT, Attn: Publications, One Physics Ellipse, College Park, MD 20740. Photos may also be emailed to aapt-pubs@aapt.org. Electronic files must be provided as high resolution JPGs. Please type “75th Anniversary Memories” in the subject line. If sending photos, please include a photo description and credit. Photos will only be returned if requested.
