Biography
I am currently a junior at Lynbrook High School in San Jose, California, where I was born. I started doing competitive academics contests starting with middle school MathCounts, though I didn’‘t go very far in seventh grade. Somewhere around that time I signed up Art of Problem Solving (AoPS) online math classes and by sheer coincidence, the next year I made it to the National MathCounts top ten after my team carried me from my 9th place Chapter finish to states, as well as qualifying for the USAMO. Upon entering the ninth grade I skipped two grades of math to calculus BC and achieved red MOSP which was offered to thirty ninth graders. In the tenth grade I achieved honorable mention in the USAMO, and was invited to MOSP again. I took AP Chemistry and AP Computer Science as a sophomore, and I’‘m currently taking AP Biology and AP Stats. By the end of this year, I will have finished all the AP math and science classes. I am currently taking multivariable calculus through EPGY. With respect to physics, I enrolled in EPGY’s distance learning AP physics courses in my sophomore year (my school doesn’t offer AP physics); I was a semi-qualifier last year and made it to camp this year. In addition, I was also on the school science bowl team, during which time I studied more physics and astronomy.
I like to read, and highly interested in history, especially that concerning the Second World War, Vietnam, and the Cold War, books upon which I read many of. Beyond academics, I’m a Boy Scout, and I enjoy the outdoor trips and activities very much; I also enjoy traveling, taking photos, and art, as well. In my extra spare time I browse forums, play StarCraft, Magic, and the piano, and devour fantasy novels.
I’m looking forwards to seeing everyone at Physics Camp.
