Biography
I was born and grew up in Hong Kong. Since I was very young, I had a passion for mathematics. I participated in many competitions and attended many training programs for mathematics. I have represented Hong Kong to compete in mathematics competitions in China twice, when I was in sixth grade and ninth grade.

To relax from my study of mathematics, I played the violin and table tennis. I have been taking violin lessons since I was six, and I played in an orchestra since elementary school. I stopped taking lessons when I was fourteen after I have passed the grade eight violin test, which was the highest level in that system back in Hong Kong. However, I continued to play in my school orchestra and in my spare time on my own as a hobby.

By the end of ninth grade, I moved to New York and continued my study in there since then. When I first got here, I was really surprised of how free the education is in the United States. There were so many extra curricular activities here as well, compared to the dull school life in Hong Kong. One of my teachers showed me the club he supervised, and that was where I learned to play bridge. I went crazy about bridge for some time, and I still played it now. I enjoyed games that required just the right amount of thinking.

In the United States, I continued to pursue math. Last year, I have finished calculus, and I also took some other college level courses, such as linear algebra and complex calculus. In contrast to all I did for mathematics, I have never expected much from physics. In fact, junior year was my first time I learned physics. I am currently taking physics C, and this is the first time I participated in a physics competition. I felt very fortunate to make it to the top 24, and I am looking forward to the training camp and to meet all these people who are so passionate about physics. I am sure I will gain a precious life experience.
