• Comparing Linear Speed and Circular Speed
Kinematics student activity. The purpose of this activity is to compare the speed of a
toy car when it is moving in a straight line with the speed of the same car when it is
tethered so as to move in a circular path. Code: WSPDL-03
• Determine the Value of Planck´s Constant
Lightwave student activity. The purpose of this laboratory activity is to use three
LEDs (i.e., Light Emitting Diodes) to determine the value of Planck’s constant. Code:
WSPDL-015
• Foot and Hand Reaction Times
Force and motion student activity. The purpose of this activity is to use the equation
for a falling object to measure and compare the reaction time of the foot and the hand.
Code: WSPDL-08
• Hinged Mirrors
Reflective light student activity. The goals of this laboratory activity are to: 1)
determine position of all images formed by two mirrors at 90 o , 2) determine how a
kaleidoscope is made, and 3) find relationship between the number of images formed
and the angle between two hinged mirrors. WSPDL-02
• Measuring Clap Interval With a Stopwatch
For this downloadable activity, students will learn to use a stopwatch to measure a time
interval and to interpret the results. Code: WSPDL-09
• Pulley Efficiency
Force and motion student activity. The purpose of this activity is to determine the
efficiency of a pulley system and to compare the efficiency for a large and a small load.
Code: WSPDL-06
• The Magnetic Field Around a Current Bearing Wire
Magnetics student activity. The purpose of this activity is to determine the relationship
among the magnetic fields near a current bearing wire, the electrical current in the
wire, and the distance from the wire. Code: WSPDL-04
• Use Rainbow Glasses to Study Illuminance and Distance
Student activity focusing on illuminance and distance. Code: WSPDL-07
• Using Interference Patterns to Find CD Groove Spacing
Photoelectric student activity. The purpose of the activity is to determine the groove
spacing on a CD. Code: WSPDL-01
• Yellow Light Timing
In this downloadable laboratory activity the student will use his or her knowledge of
kinematics to investigate how the timing of a yellow light affects the safety of a traffic
intersection. Code: WSPDL-10
