April 5-7, 2013 American Center for Physics College Park, MD 20740
AAPT, AAS, and APS will be hosting an April 5-7, 2013 workshop for experienced (tenured) physics and astronomy faculty members. This workshop is intended only for faculty members who have not participated in the Physics and Astronomy New Faculty Workshop program.
The goals of the workshop are (1) to learn more about effective physics and astronomy teaching practices and the evidence for the effectiveness of those practices in your roles as department leaders, mentors for junior faculty members, and physics and astronomy educators, and (2) to share your and your department’s teaching experiences with your peers and the workshop leaders. The workshop will have a mix of presentations by national leaders such as Eric Mazur and Carl Wieman and small group discussions.
The workshop will begin on Friday, April 5 at 4 pm and end by noon on Sunday, April 7. Our NSF grant will pay for your hotel and local meal expenses. Please do not make travel arrangements until you have been formally accepted for the workshop since the number of participant slots is limited to 40.
