CSU Physics Department Tours

The CSU Department of Physics and Astronomy, located in Sequoia Hall, will conduct various tours of its facilities on Tuesday, Aug. 3, from 12:00 p.m. - 2:00 p.m. and 8:00 p.m. - 9:30 p.m.

In addition to their anechoic chamber, experimental set-ups for liquid crystal and laser research will be open for viewing, including laser Fabre-Perot fiber optics apparatus. Electronics and advanced lab facilities will be open for inspection and the department’s active PER and discussion/lab facilities will be highlighted. Tours of the machine shop will also be available for those interested.

In addition to the tours, a solar viewing telescope will be available to meeting attendees in the quad outside Sequoia during noon hours.

Because the anechoic chamber can hold no more than five people at one time, those interested in seeing it will need to schedule their tour—a 10-minute time slot—by preregistering onsite at the AAPT registration desk located in the Union’s Lobby Suite.

The remainder of the tours are all “drop-in” and do not require preregistration.
