Abstract: The Magnet Lab and other facilities, large and small, can provide the infrastructure that translates science research for students, teachers, and the general public. In addition, an educational programs group with science educators as staff, provides support for scientists as they expand their involvement with science outreach. CIRL addresses this mission by providing a broad range of programs at traditional and nontraditional venues: For example, K12 outreach to schools, middle school mentorships, high school internships, internships for undergraduates, internships for teachers, teacher professional development, Science CafĂ©, Barnes & Noble Science Nights, and Chick Fil A Family Nights. CIRL educators take any and all opportunities to help teachers bring real-world research into classrooms.
