Biography
I am a senior at the Academy for the Advancement of Science and Technology (AAST), a science magnet school in northern New Jersey. I spent most of my time doing math, programming, and physics, but I am not particularly talented in any one of these.
I have never actually won any math/science competition, but I find contests a lot of fun. My first exposure to competitive math was Mathcounts in eighth grade. In high school, I joined the math team and started competing in Tournament of the Towns, Mandelbrot, ARML, and the HMMT. As a sophomore, I qualified for the USAMO, and I subsequently attended MOSP with 170 other kids that summer. To say the least, USAMO and MOSP were humbling experiences. For the past three summers, I have also attended the PROMYS in Boston. I return each summer because it is always fun to meet cool people and do math with them.
Last year, I also participated in the U.S. Physics Team, but I did not make it past the Preliminary Round. This year, our school finally started a physics club, and through great fortune, I am here now. I have never been to a physics camp before, but I anticipate that it will be another humbling experience. I am certain that I will meet more cool people.
Outside of academics, I enjoy playing Frisbee, participating in Quiz Bowl, and occasionally doing chores.
Finally, I would like to thank my parents and classmates for their support, and I am indebted to the following teachers: Dr. Vijaya, Dr. Galitskiy, Dr. Nevard, and Mr. Holbrook. I certainly could not have made it this far without all of them.
