Biography
I am a senior at Canterbury High School in Fort Wayne, IN. I stumbled upon the U.S. Physics Competition while searching for scholarships on the Internet, and since I'm taking Physics C this year, I thought I would give it a try. I never thought I would have such an awesome opportunity to meet incredible people and be immersed in a subject I love. Not surprisingly, my favorite subjects are physics and mathematics, and I have become especially interested at the amateur level in string theory, quantum gravity, number theory, and the Riemann hypothesis (the $1 million prize for proving it furnished my latest get-rich-quick scheme).
My other academic interests include literature (my favorite writer is William Faulkner) and French. I am a National Merit Scholarship recipient, valedictorian of my class, an Indianapolis Star All-Star, and a member of the Cum Laude Society. I've qualified for the American Invitational Mathematics Examination for three years in a row; I placed fourth in the University of Evansville Programming Competition two years ago, and I am a member of my school's JETS team which placed fifth in the nation last year. I was also awarded my school's Computer Science Book Prize as a sophomore and Biology Book Prize as a junior. Outside of academics, I enjoy running and was captain of both the Varsity Cross Country and Varsity Track teams this year. I also play violin in my school orchestra and guitar for my own enjoyment. Finally, I've done about 140 hours of community service through Key Club.
I look forward to meeting everyone at the camp in May!
