Biography
I am a senior at Evanston Township High School (ETHS). During my years at ETHS, I've been the recipient of school awards such as Freshman of the Year, and department awards in physics, chemistry, biology, geometry, algebra II, trigonometry, Latin, English, history, and art. I was also selected for membership in the Freshman and Sophomore Honor Societies.
Outside of school, I have been recognized as a member of the National Honor Society and am a National Merit finalist and an Illinois State Scholar. I received a Summa Cum Laude on the National Latin exam in 2003, and was named a semi-finalist in the Junior Science and Humanities Symposium at Loyola University. I have also been a member of numerous award-winning science teams, including a Junior Engineering and Technical Society team placing fifth in the nation and a Worldwide Youth in Science and Engineering team placing first in the region. I was also a member of a four-student team receiving national recognition in a 36-hour mathematical modeling contest sponsored by the Consortium for Mathematics and its Applications.
I am currently choosing between Stanford and Princeton Universities, where I plan to major in physics. I'm a member of ETHS's art club, and in my spare time, I enjoy reading novels, drawing, painting, tutoring other students, volunteering in the community, and playing the clarinet. For seven years, I have been a member of the selective youth orchestra Midwest Young Artists, where I have participated in the orchestra, chamber music, and music theory programs.
