Next Generation Science Standards - 2nd Draft

The second draft of the Next Generation Science Standards (NGSS) was released on January 8th by Achieve for a final round of public comment.   The deadline for providing feedback to Achieve is January 29th.  If you are interested in providing feedback about this vital document that will have a major impact for the future of K-12 science education, please send your comments to AAPT at ngss@aapt.org, as soon as possible but no later than January 26th.  Note that your comments should address issues such as fundamental errors, clarity of statements, or assignment of particular science and engineering practices to specific performance expectations.  Achieve will not consider comments about appropriateness of disciplinary core ideas or systemic changes to the document.  The NGSS is available at http://www.nextgenscience.org/next-generation-science-standards and are based on the National Research Council’s “A Framework for K-12 Science Education: Practices, Crosscutting Concepts, and Core Ideas“ which is available for free download at http://www.nap.edu/catalog.php?record_id=13165.
