Amber L. Stuver
1978 - 2024
Amber Lynnell Stuver, 45, of Newtown Square, formerly of Greensburg, died Sunday, Sept. 8, 2024, in Bryn Mawr Hospital, Bryn Mawr. She was born Oct. 5, 1978, in IL, a daughter of Eileen (Ritchey) Stuver Depcrymski, of Greensburg, and the late Richard Stuver.
A graduate of Penn State University, she received a Masters of Education and a Ph.D. in Physics. She was an associate professor of physics at Villanova University. She had also worked at Caltech/LIGO, Louisiana State University, and Penn State University. Amber was a 2016 recipient of the Special Breakthrough Prize in Fundamental Physics.
Stuver joined AAPT in 2008 and served on the Programs Committee, Committee on Graduate Education in Physics, Committee on Science Education for the Public, Committee on Space, Science and Astronomy, and the Committee on Contemporary Physics. As a member of the Southeastern Pennsylvania Section of AAPT, she served as Section Representative. She was also a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution, LIGO Scientific Collaboration, American Physical Society, and American Astronomical Society. Her hobbies included, genealogy, reading, and crocheting.
