Safety, Respect & Inclusion: How To Be Part of the Solution

Sunday, February 19 from 8:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. - Harassers and bullies have an impact on workplace climate that is out of proportion to their number. This is true, in part, because even those who have a strong personal commitment to diversity and inclusion are at a loss as to how to respond when they experience or witness harassing and bullying behavior. This workshop provides the skills and knowledge needed to “walk the talk” of inclusion on a day-to-day basis. The workshop will use role-playing exercises to practice the skills needed for effectively stopping harassment in the moment, including the ability to set and hold strong (and reasonable) boundaries, without apology, extraneous explanation, or qualification; and the ability to communicate clearly in any situation in which emotions are running high, and there is the potential for escalation of the conflict. Proceeds from this workshop will be donated to My Sister's Place in Washington, D.C. My Sister's Place provides emergency, transitional and permanent shelter to battered women and their children.
