AAPT Virtual Coffee Hours are a benefit of membership and open to all AAPT members. Our goal is to provide opportunities for our members to meet virtually in an informal setting to discuss and share teaching methods and practices with your peers.
We began these events as a response to COVID19 and the sudden need for many teachers to quickly adapt to online teaching. The calls typically involve anywhere between 35 and 50 physics educators engaged in dialogue - a healthy mix of live conversation and posting of helpful links and resources in the chat box. After the event, we send everyone who RSVPs a recording of the session along with a summary of the resources provided in the chat. Currently, the Virtual Coffee Hours take place twice a month on Tuesdays (alternating between a 4:00 PM Eastern and a 7:00 PM Eastern start time).
To participate on the call:
During the week prior, we will email our members an invitation for the next Virtual Coffee Hour. Please RSVP by replying to this email. About an hour before the call, everyone who RSVPs will receive the link to the Zoom meeting. If you have any questions, please contact us at firstname.lastname@example.org.
You may also find the event listed on the AAPT Calendar.
Note: Attendees are required to RSVP to each meeting invite in order to receive login instructions.
