Title: Over the Bridge

I took this photo on a clear night in December in Long Beach, CA, as a natural entry. I used Tri X film and a tripod to hold my Rebel 2000 camera. Because it was so dark out, I kept my shutter open for approximately three seconds at an f/stop of 5.6. I composed the picture so that the bridge appeared to be stretching across the entire frame and so that the reflections of the bridge and its lights could be seen on the water. The next day, I processed the negatives at school and proceeded to make a contact sheet the following day. I chose this image and transposed it into an 8" x 10" print. I used a three﷓filter to ensure that the tones of grays would be very clear. I decided that three pushes of two seconds apiece from the enlarger gave the best amount of exposure to the paper. I left the paper in the developer for two minutes to make the contrast between all of the shades very defined and also to make the dark image dark enough. I then put the picture into the fixer for a total of two minutes after putting it into the stop bath for 30 seconds. Finally, I let it sit in the rinse for about 10 minutes to wash off all of the left over chemicals.
