In this photo of my father there is an inverted "ghost" image in addition to the main image. The additional image is caused by partial reflections of light that come off the back and front surface of the lens before striking the film. The curved surface of the lens acts as a concave mirror, producing a real image on the film. The image is inverted twice so it is the opposite orientation of the main image. Technically there is a ghost image of the entire photo. However, only the inverted candlelight appears in the photo because it is the brightest aspect of the image.
