The child is jumping over the stream, with a reflection below him. The child ran with constant acceleration to a velocity at which he could jump and cause a force to be perpendicular to gravity for enough time to pass over the water below him. Underneath the child, there is a reflection. This is caused when light reflects off an object, the child, and hits the water. The reverse image of the object is then seen on the surface of the water as light from the object recreates the image on the water.
