Physics Team Training Camp

The U.S. Physics Team training camp will be held in College Park, Maryland, May/June 2017.  There, students will engage in ten days of intense studying, testing and problem solving.

At the camp, team members will have the opportunity to improve their laboratory and problem solving skills, hear special lectures by prominent physicists, and interact with other exceptional physics students from all over the United States.  Many previous team members have considered this training camp to be the high point of their academic lives.

The training camp experience is immensely valuable for the students.  The instruction provides an introduction to university style teaching and equipment.  Students become familiar with aspects of first year university curricula in physics which in turn accelerates their studies during their remaining time in high school.

At the end of that training camp, five team members will be chosen as the “Traveling Team” to represent the United States Physics Team at the 48th International Physics Olympiad in Indonesia.  The Traveling Team will gather for three additional days of intense laboratory work before they are ready for the International Event.
